No reason to mince words here. The CtR reverb (formerly known as Liquid reverb) is based on the renown “Box of Hall” circuit by Culturejam*.
You know those reverb pedals that have so many options you spend more time fiddling with the “wet modulation feedback adjustment” control than you do actually playing the stupid thing? Then once you think you’ve got it sounding cool you play it in a live setting and realize all it has done is make your guitar washed out and get lost in the mix. The Mercy Seat Effects Consider the Raven reverb is NOT one of those reverbs. No reason to mince words here. The CtR reverb (formerly known as Liquid reverb) is based on the renown “Box of Hall” circuit by Culturejam*. This circuit it widely shared and modded all over DIY effects forums and sites. It is amazing in it’s simplicity and that’s what caught our attention. Taking this circuit and paying careful attention to values we were able to put together something very special. The CtR reverb falls somewhere in between a spring and hall reverb. There are not multiple reverb types to choose from. There is no modulation pitch adjusting. What you have is what matters in a solid reverb; reverb volume and damp. What’s damp? Well think of it like the tone of the reverb effect. You can set it to a more dark or bright setting and it doesn’t effect the overall guitar tone, just the reverb effect. It’s as simple as that. And I’m pretty proud to say that no matter where you put the settings, the CtR reverb is always usable and musical. So when you’re looking for a quality reverb with only the necessities and no foolishness for a plug-and-play situation, the Mercy Seat Effects CtR reverb is at your beckon call.
